What's For Dinner?

Chicken tenders fried in chocolate sauce.

Someone grabbed the wrong bottle.

Tastes weird.

Glasses

Went to the eye doctor the other day. Good news: no new problems.  Bad news: Two-year restriction on new frames isn't up until August 1st, two weeks from then. Insurance co. (VSP) won't approve an exception, even though I've saved them several hundred dollars, I'm sure, by not going to the eye doctor last year. Thank you so much, VSP!

Rotten Patrons

I guess some people think that candy bars are recyclable.

2011March18 garbage 006

Then there are those miscreants that just leave their garbage on the shelves.  I found three of these stuffed behind or between the books the other week, but this one appeared today after a massive number of patrons stormed the shelves to check out books.  And by massive, I mean ninety books checked out! Yea for that, anyway!

I love the Made/Ready/Discard date/times, it makes it easy to tell how long it has been sitting on the shelf!

Uhhh, I guess the pictures are too wide, I guess you will have to scroll to see the rest of  the images. Sorry about that!

Yet Another Scam

Got a CASHIER'S CHECK for $1,271.02 (TWO CENTS!) in the mail today from STAR Marketing in Los Alamitos. A legitimate company, according to the web site I Googled. I had to Google it because there was no URL on the letter.

It says I've been selected as a NEW CANDIDATE to be a Mystery Shopper! Uh huh.

It says (I have to call them for details, of course. It's a 760 area code in SoCal.) I get to evaluate Western Union by sending $945.00 to someone. I get to keep $200.00! Wow! All that money for so little work! What a deal!

I Googled the phone number (with the word 'scam') and I find the SAME phone number used for a scam in Poway (California) with a DIFFERENT company. Interesting.

Oh, and the letter has a Canadian stamp on it.

So many clues that it is a TOTAL SCAM, as if anyone had a doubt!

I hope STAR Marketing put a disclaimer on their website that they have nothing to do with this scam. It can not be good for their business to be linked to dishonesty by these scammers.

They (the scammers) sure did a good job on the letter and check, though.

So Much For That

After finishing So Much For That, by Lionel Shriver, a most excellent book, I have quite decided I will never have chemotherapy, and maybe not even surgery, if I have a re-occurrence of something awful. (Don't click that second link, do do the first, I am just being silly there.)
